Building Intern Stump

The Challenge

Intern Stump needed a highly scalable platform to bridge the gap between students and companies. Their main roadblocks were performance and data management. Off-the-shelf website builders like WordPress couldn't handle the complex relational data required for job postings, user profiles and application tracking without serious slowdowns. They needed a custom-engineered solution that was fast on mobile, secure, and ready to scale as their user base grew.

The Solution

I architected a decoupled, headless system to maximize both speed and security. The frontend uses Next.js with server-side rendering, so pages load quickly and are fully readable by search engines.

This React-based frontend communicates with a RESTful Laravel API. Separating the backend logic secured the application core and let an optimized MySQL database handle complex application queries quickly. The core MVP was engineered and deployed within a 72-hour launch window.

Expanding to iPhone

In 2026, Intern Stump expanded beyond the browser with its official iOS app, published on the App Store. The app gives students direct mobile access to the Intern Stump platform from their iPhone.
